Gun Free SA, South Africa’s leading non-profit tackling gun violence, has come up with a controversial but potentially effective proposal to protect children from gang violence: bulletproof play parks. Described as ‘a space to play without the fear of being shot’, GFSA have proposed the world’s first ‘Bulletproof Park’ in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town in order to combat the hundreds of gun related deaths each year in the area.
